Movie Review: ACRIMONY (3 mins read)
Acrimony is a psychological movie which was seemingly narrated by the lead character Melinda. Melinda was a lovingly sweet girl who was left with some fortunes by her mom, after falling in love at a very tender age with Roberts, Melinda felt it was needful to help see him through school since she loved him.
They later got married and Melinda was still fending for both of them. She was working two jobs; by morning she's in the office and at night works as a cleaner.
Robert sits at home and tries to fix what seems never to have an ending. He didn't get a job to help, he was just hell bent on constructing whatever it was he was working on.
This movie opens us up to what women in general go through in their marriage and relationships, despite the advices from her sisters which fell on deaf ears. She fought for herself and her husband, that's one intriguing thing to be loved about the movie.
Though despite her sacrifices, she felt Robert cheated on her because of a purse that was found in his truck.
Melinda was filled with hatred, jealousy. Melinda lost it all when she realized someone she had tended for, sacrificed for, given up her fortune for was cheating on her.
At this point in the movie, emphasis was shown on the importance of not allowing a third party into your family affair, the whole turn out of event in their life was caused by her sisters.
Melinda went extra mile to deal with Diana, her now ex-husband and his new fiancee because she filed for a divorce. She went to the extent of burning her wedding gown.
It threw her into chaos when she realized the fact that the life she dreamt of with her ex-husband was now being lived by another woman.
It is understandable that Diana helped him to get investors for his constructed work but it still doesn't justify the fact that he had to give Diana the life she had wished for. It's a technological world and everything could be seen on the media and that angered Melinda the more.
It's so heartbreaking to get to see that Melinda lost her life in trying to revenge.
Some lessons to be learnt from this movie are;
1. Patience is important.
2. Trust your partner.
3. Seeking vengeance might not always be the right answer.
